Grau Data Storage To Resell Safecapacity
Santa Clara, CA. – December 11, 2001 – Grau Data Storage has selected SafeCapacity™ from Solution-Soft Systems, Inc. as a critical component to manage and migrate data from UNIX systems into Infinistore® Virtual Disk Systems (IVD). The capability to migrate inactive data from servers frees up expensive storage resources for more productive use and significantly reduces overall costs of storage.
The integration of the products from these two companies provides a seamless flow of data from Solaris servers to Infinistore. Many companies are facing storage overload and a method of coping with these storage-related problems can be found in aggressive data migration policies, relieving server storage of older, infrequently accessed files. The integration of the products from these two companies achieves this goal while providing a seamless flow of data from Unix servers to Infinistore.
"We find that most of our customers have a combination of UNIX systems as well as Windows-based systems," said Andy Richards, CTO of Grau Data Storage. "Our strategy is to provide complete storage management solutions and they must encompass both operating environments. SafeCapacity is the best UNIX-based product that we have found to work with Infinistore and it allows us to deliver a single, shared, low-cost storage platform to our larger customers."
"Hierarchical Storage Management has been available for many several years but never really caught on in the marketplace because of expense and complication. SafeCapacity has been developed specifically to address the server storage-capacity issues and provide high-availability with ease of management. By combining anissues and then relies on effective, inexpensive storage devices for to migrated support the data with SafeCapacity, that has been migrated corporate data centers will achieve an enormous value. Until Infinistore, there hads not been a reasonably pricedno inexpensive yet uncomplicated mass storage device for SafeCapacity to use," said Michael Morrison of Solutions-Soft Systems.
SafeCapacity begins to round-out the the Grau Data Storage expanded product offerings that include a smaller version of the Infinistore with storage capacities from 1 to 6 TB of data; the current IVD now capable of storing from 5 to 35 TB; highly available, mirrored systems; and, just now, companion software that migrates data onto the IVDs. The Infinistore business model is one-stop-shopping for storage management solutions. TheAn inclusion of UNIX-based storage into the shared, protected storage generates greater value for customers.
The Infinistore is an all-inclusive network-attached storage system that combines hard disk RAID-5 storage capacity, an ultra-capacity tape library and integrated storage management software to meet the requirements of a range of data intensive applications. The unique design eliminates customer support issues with an all-in-one solution. Designed for use as primary storage, disk-based backup and archiving in data-intensive environments, IVD’s scalable architecture tightly integrates a complete HSM system into a very compact design. The IVD system is an appliance that is based on a two-tier storage hierarchy, combining up to 1.5 TB of RAID-5 disk storage caching and up to 35 TB of protected capacity using SONY AIT tape storage.
Grau specializes in providing large-capacity storage solutions that are appliance-like to install and operate. Grau solutions, built on the company’s Infinistore architecture, provide instantaneous return on investment to users by increasing performance, reducing costs for storage management and workloads on available administration personnel. Data protection and availability is moved to a new level for distributed computing environments through the use of automated, remote data replication. Grau distributes Infinistore systems through its developing channel of reseller partners. Grau Data Storage Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Grau Data Storage AG.
