Giving Back to our Community

At Solution-Soft, employees play an active role in the Bay Area community. Since the company’s beginnings, we’ve made a tradition of donating to the neediest in our community and/or during emergency or disaster situations all over the world. By supporting local volun­teer and donation initiatives, we help shape the future of our local communities and continue to encourage posi­tive change and growth in our own company in society as a whole.

 

                                                                                

 

About EHP

The Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP) based in East Palo Alto was established in 1975 and it has grown to become the largest direct emergency food provider in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and the surrounding communities. . Their mission is to provide assistance to families, seniors, and people with a limited income and those with emergency and ongoing needs in their community in the form of food, clothing, household essentials, support and advocacy. They even have a community organic garden.

Why we Chose EHP

The COVID19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on a great number of families, and seniors all over the world. East Palo Alto and the surrounding communities have seen a huge rise in the needs of the people in their communities along with a decline in donations as people struggle to get by.

As I spoke to the volunteers at the EHP center, they expressed sadness that this year, EHP’s resources are so limited they are only able to provide food to the East Palo Alto community. One of the volunteers told me “we are struggling to meet the needs of the surrounding community. In past years we have been able to provide for not only East Palo Alto but San Mateo and the surrounding communities, as well. This year, that is not the case.”

We were pleased that our Thanksgiving donation of turkey’s and food was met with much grateful enthusiasm. At that time we spoke to the volunteers about their needs for the Christmas holidays, the volunteers said “we are in need of gifts for the teenagers in our community, they are often overlooked and a lot of times they are not only going to school, but they work to help meet the financial responsibilities of their families, help take care of siblings and the household while their parents work.”

When we returned with a donation expressly for the teenagers, the volunteers were overjoyed! One of the volunteers said “we are so thrilled that Solution-Soft has chosen EHP for their holiday donations again this year. This donation of gifts for the teens in the community is so needed! This donation is the biggest we’ve received yet so thank you Solution-Soft. We are so grateful!”

Margaret Wang, VP of Solution-Soft said “Our community is a big family we are belonging to. Throughout the years, it’s Solution-Soft’s tradition to give back to our community. It is a great opportunity to bring us closer to others, strengthen empathy with the needy ones, and make our community a better place to live. We want our staff to be both passionate about their work as well as the community.”

In May, EHP was selected as the California Non-Profit of the Year for 2022. In a letter from Assemblyman Marc Bergman to EHP notifying them of their selection he said "Your work in East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and the surrounding area has been critical this last year in helping people to keep food on their tables and to not go hungry during a long period of intense and ongoing need.”
